Dual Drum Filling System

Dual Drum Fillers
Model DF-5521

This is a pair of semi-automatic, top-fill machines. There are two fillers in line, each with 2 Kynar lances and independent carriages, because the product is highly corrosive. The operator can fill up to 2 drums sequentially or progressively.

This system requires empty drums to accumulate prior to the filling station. Bungs are removed and left on top of the drums prior to filling. A scale mounted powered conveyor drives each drum on & off the fill station.

Full drums will convey to a palletizer, accumulate in-line or be picked-up by fork truck.

Product Highlights
  • Three speed filling for greater accuracy

  • Automatic abort if lance is not aligned with bung opening

  • Two product flow valves to control water hammering

  • Two inch diameter product valves for faster flow rates

  • Quick change 2" diameter lance

  • Wetted parts are plastic, valves and lances or stainless steel with Teflon seals dependings on the product being filled

  • 1000 lb capacity scale base with four load cells

  • Fully welded structural steel frame

  • Air operated drip collector and Teflon wiper ring

  • Hood for fume collection

  • NTEP approved weight meter & load cells

  • NEMA 4 standard enclosure, others optional

  • Microprocessor controller - 250 products menu

  • RS-232 port for optional data acquisition and printer connection

  • Alpha - Numeric operator keyboard

  • Operator troubleshooting interface with prompts

  • Fills a 55 gal drum in 42 seconds w/water @ 110 gpm & 30 psi

Drum filling system: Automatic Drum Orienting Filler

A drum filling system that automatically aligns and fills drums that have the bung previously removed.

Drums are moved into the system by a pneumatic indexer. At the rotator a pneumatic wheel on one side and floating wheels on the other side rotate the drum. An electronic eye finds the bung opening then signals a stop. A tapered gauge is inserted into the opening to lock it’s location then retracted. The drum conveys to the fill station where it is raised off the conveyor and signals the fill cycle to begin. The automatic tare sets and the lance inserts into the drum to the designated down position.

The slow fill cycle begins until the level of liquid reaches the fill spout then it shifts into fast fill speed. At the designated fill height, the cycle shifts into dribble speed to top off the drum and minimize foaming.

This drum filling system fills a 55 gal drum in 42 seconds w/water @ 110 gpm & 30 psi .

Need to fill drums and IBCs on the same line ?

Palletized Drum & IBC Filling

Specialty Equipment's DF-5540T is the most popular method of filling IBCs and drums, on the same line.

This automated commercial system allows multiple pallet loads of empty containers to accumulate prior to the filling station. There is an air operated chain transfer, a powered roller conveyor at right angles, one on the scale and another after the fill station for bung & label application. There are several non-powered zones at the end for accumulating full loads waiting fork truck pick up. This particular system can fill containers from 5 to 500 gallons.

Operation Highlights

  • When a full load is discharged, a new load conveys to the fill station and stops automatically.
  • The operator then presses a button on the handle to release the boom and guides the lance to the bung opening of any container he chooses
  • The operator releases the button and the boom is automatically locked in place.
When the operator presses the start button the lance travels to the bottom of the container, the machine will automatically "tare out" the load and start a slow fill cycle.
  • When the liquid reaches above the tip of the lance, the machine automatically shifts into fast fill cycle.
  • Near the top, the machine cycles to dribble speed to top off the container.
  • When the lance retracts the operator presses the button on the handle again to release the boom and guide the lance to the next container.
  • This machine can be utilized as an automatic filler as long as the IBC size and bung opening are consistent for each fill cycle.
